A mining company is interested in the structures associated with the magnetic highs (white on red).

GSM-19 base, GSM-19F mobile with DGPS system were rented from Ultramag.

One operator surveyed the 1km * 1.4km area in 2 days at 50m line spacing. Traverses were along East-West lines. Several significant NW trending linear features were delineated as well a abrupt terminations of these features.

The noisy data (stippled) in the far NW corner is the result of magnetic soils (maghemite) or paleo channels. These kinds of anomales can also be of interest in some areas.

The disjointedness in the NE corner is due to poor position fix of the operator. This was caused by blockage of radio signals carrying the DGPS correction due to a hill in the centre of the grid. It is a good example of why we need to use differential GPS as opposed to straight GPS.
