Scientific Name: Eulamprus quoyii
General characteristics: Usually found around water among aquatic vegetation, in logs or rock crevices.  A semi-aquatic lizard.  Will take to the water when alarmed.  Commonly found around wetlands, although their distribution is not confined to these areas. They mate in spring and females give birth to 2-9 live young in summer.  They become sexually mature in the first year and may live to 10 years.   They grow to 16 cm.
Diet: Small frogs, worms, tadpoles, water beetles, snails,berries, insects and small animals.
Habitat: Coast and ranges of eastern Australia from northern Qld to southern NSW, extending in land via the Darling River system to north-western Vic and south eastern SA.
Status: Secure and common
