The society was formed in 1999 and currently has over 90 financial members including our honorary members. Membership is made up of reptile keepers, frog keepers and conservation advocates.

The society is a group of Amphibian and Reptile enthusiasts. We also run a Frog and Reptile rescue service endorsed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service.

Club meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Sugar Valley Neighbourhood Centre located at 65 Carrington Street West Wallsend, starting at 7.30 PM with a guest speaker at selected meetings.  Before and after each meeting, members and guests take the time to share helpful information and ideas.  Tea and coffee is available for those wanting a hot drink while they have a chat.

NEWSLETTER: “SOFAR” has a quarterly newsletter filled with interesting information about the group and amphibians and reptiles.  Once you become a financial member of SOFAR, this publication is free and posted to your nominated address.  If you think you have something we could use in our newsletter please email it to sofar@hunterlink.net.au

By joining SOFAR you have a number of ways to talk and communicate with current members and new comer's to learn new ideas, tips and seek advice.  Join us at one of our field trips or meetings to expand your knowledge.
