General characteristics: The females lay 2-8 soft-shelled eggs from October to mid January. They get themselves warmed up in the afternoon sun and hatch in late summer after about 74 days of incubation. They grow to 24 cm in length.
Diet: Mostly stick insects, beetles, insect larvae and spiders and occasionally worms and small mice.
Habitat: Rainforests and adjacent wet sclerophyll forest on the coastal ranges of mid-eastern Australia from Gosford (NSW) to Gympie (Qld).
Status: Vulnerable, threatened by loss of habitat and illegal collecting.
