RIVERWOOD DOWNS

A WEEKEND "GET AWAY" FOR BOTH DANCERS & NON-DANCERS
For $65 per person (under 16's $55) (Bunk house - TWO people), you can enjoy
a weekend of dancing and / or relaxation in a beautiful country setting.
There will be a supplementary charge if YOU REQUEST SINGLE accomodation.

More "Up-market" (limited) accommodation is available - see below for details.

Meals provided:-

• Friday evening - soup and sausage sizzle, supper - tea, coffee etc.
• Saturday - breakfast, morning & afternoon tea/coffee; salad lunch; evening Barbecue - supper.
• Sunday - breakfast, morning tea/coffee, lunch
  Any meals/snacks, in addition to the above, are the responsibility of indivduals..

Events:-

• Friday (evening) - social - easy programme - recapped by nominated Hunter Valley Dancers.
• Saturday (morning) - scottish country dance classes (not compulsory).
• Saturday (afternoon) - "something different" (subject to availability & not necessarily S.C.D.).
• Saturday (evening) - social - easy programme.
• Sunday (morning) - scottish country dance classes (not compulsory).

You need to bring:-

• A slice or salad per person - as indicated by you on the application form (or as requested by the organisers) - those travelling a distance MAY be asked to bring tinned food instead)
• ALL BEDDING & TOWELS, (linen, blankets and pillows, etc.) - can be cool/cold when the sun goes down!!!
• PLATES, GLASSES, MUGS, CUTLERY, ETC - for yourself.
• Own "liquid refreshment" - on site "basic shop" - nearest pub miles away!
• Swimmers and an "old" pair of shoes for the river.
• Casual clothes, including a sweater (as mentioned, it can be cool/cold after sunset), kilt - if you must!!, walking clothes & shoes, sun hat & sun screen, etc.
• YOUR DANCING SHOES (if you are a dancer)
• If wishing to stay an extra night (Sunday), there will be additional costs for accommodation & meals. Please indicate on the application form if staying Sunday night.

Bookings will only be confirmed upon receipt of completed application form, accompanied by the $25 deposit & S.A.E.  (deposit covers catering costs for the event) - should you cancel, any deposit is returnable only at discretion of the organising committee and / or site management. (see below).

ACCOMMODATION
There are a number of styles of accommodation varying from Bunk House, to self contained cabins and even 4 ½ star Motel type super luxurious cabins with spa bath.

• Bunk houses - have three beds – although we never, unless requested, have more than two persons per bunk house. This leaves more room for luggage, etc.. This style of accommodation has shared toilet and shower inside the hall building, and adjoining, the accommodation block. (twin share costs are $39.90 for the two nights – single supplement applies).
  
• Self contained cabins – (near to hall) - these have a double bedded room with two bunks in an adjoining room – fitted with own shower / toilet, complete with kitchen and utensils, TV, refrigerator, etc.. (Cabin costs for two people sharing - $125 per night, with small additional costs should there be any other person sharing.)

• Motel type and expensive cabin accommodation – please apply to the site office for further details.
  If staying in the expensive accommodation, you must still pay the $25 food deposit.

INVOLVED IN THE BOOKING OF THE MORE EXPENSIVE ACCOMMODATION.

CATERING

There is an excellent restaurant on site – operated by the site owners.
However please note that you will need to notify the
restaurant on the morning of the day you intend to dine.

Riverwood Downs is a property approximately 75 Km slightly East of North from Newcastle.

The upper reaches of the Karuah River pass through the property.

The nearest village or locality is Monkerai. Unfortunately Monkerai is not shown on most maps.

Stroud Road and Wards River are on the "Bucketts Way", the road from the Pacific Highway to the town of Gloucester.  Riverwood Downs is to the west of the Bucketts Way. The turn-off is about half way between Stroud Road and Wards River. Follow the signs.
