Old photo R025

Two photos showing Fallowfield Park, the home of Askam Rugby League Football Club. The first photo shows it as it was before it was levelled; the second shows the same park after the construction of the club house.

Colin Carter writes that "The clubhouse was opened on the 30th of May 1983 by Alex Murphy. Prior to this the teams would change in huts belonging to Askam rugby along side the Band Hall (formerly used by Mr Theckston who was a cabinet maker/undertaker; this hut was also used for bingo by Mrs Glen to raise money for rugby club funds). The players from away teams would change in a building to the back of the Railway Inn fitted out with a large bath."

Colin sent the two photos in; he got them from Susan Turner (manager of the rugby club) who got them from the original photographer, Mr Brian Windle. Thanks to everyone involved.
