Holiday Dialysis in Newcastle


Holiday Dialysis Holiday dialysis in Newcastle is provided by the Wansey Community Dialysis Centre which is part of the Department of Nephrology services attached to John Hunter Hospital. The role of the Centre is to provide community based dialysis treatment and training for patients with End Stage Kidney Failure. The unit was established in 1989, through a bequest from Mrs Francoise Wansey. It is located in a bushland setting south of Newcastle and aims to provide a relaxed social environment in which patients can undertake their dialysis treatment and training.

The HIGH DEPENDENCY COMMUNITY HAEMODIALYSIS UNIT, located at the Wansey Centre, provides holiday dialysis during the following hours:

Monday to Friday    3.30 pm - 10.30 pm
Saturday                  7. 30 am - 2.30 pm

What do I bring?
Preconditions for acceptance of patients for holiday dialysis include:

Current HIV, Hep B and C status
Current clinical status
1 months written notice to Nephrologist and Nursing Unit Manager

Holiday dialysis can be organised with the Team Leader in the High Dependency Community Dialysis Unit.
