Local member Tim Owen announces funding for Hannell Street crossing upgrade Following representations from local residents, Bicycle Ecology Centre and NCM, State member for Newcastle Tim Owen has announced that Roads and Maritime services have allocated $275K to upgrade safety at Hannel Street cycleway crossing. NCM Proposal for Copenhagen Bike Lanes in Newcastle After some detailed input by a number of members, NCM has prepared a proposal for the installation of Copenhagen style bike lanes into Newcastle along either Hunter Street or King Street. During May, 2010, this was presented to NCC for their consideration and discussion on the proposal .
