NEWCASTLE BUSHWALKING CLUB INC.

CAUTIONS

Activities Briefing: Helpful information about pending activities is given at the prior Club meeting. As activities are graded for their level of difficulty, regular participants have the opportunity to progress, if they wish, from the leisurely to full-blown feats of endurance. Summary details are published in the Club magazine where further information may also be contained in a prospectus.

Participants need to ensure that they are suitably prepared for the activity being undertaken. It is the responsibility of intending walkers to contact the leader beforehand to confirm departure details, the conditions expected and the equipment and clothing required.

Weather is an unpredictable element as activities are placed on the program well in advance. Generally an event will proceed despite uncomfortable weather conditions but when there is a real danger posed by fire, flood or lack of water the leader may cancel the event or adopt a contingency plan.

Potential Hazards, Please Note Carefully: Club activities are intended to challenge and may have associated risks. As activities take place in remote areas it is rare that expert medical help is close at hand. An existing medical condition could be worsened by a Club activity and participants should seek advice to address that concern to their satisfaction.

Exposure, dehydration, snakes, ticks, leeches, stinging plants, blisters and accidental injuries are possibilities. Intending participants should acquaint themselves with these risks and make a value judgement whether or not to take part. They always take part as volunteers and make a personal value judgement whether or not to participate.
