What's New

    The Full Circle

Many people would say that it was inevitable and many people would be right. If we were ever to explore the export arena, Scotland had to be given priority as a destination for Capercaillie Wines.

Instrumental in introducing Alasdair to the wine industry in 1975, Ian Hastie, a close family friend and former Vineyard Manager of Arrowfield Wines, who returned to Scotland in the late 70’s, recently flew the Capercaillie flag at the launch of our wines in Edinburgh.

We are delighted to hear plenty of positive reports and glad that many of our Scottish supporters are now finally able to find a tipple closer to hand.

The End of an Era – ‘Ghillie Sutherland’

It’s with that empty hollow feeling that we report on the loss of our lovely old Labrador Ghillie. After a short but valiant fight against pneumonia, we were forced to say our goodbyes on the 6th April. Like the many visitors to the winery that she befriended, we will miss her terribly.

Ghillie will very much remain part of Capercaillie through the Hunter Valley Shiraz named in her honour.‘The Ghillie’ will only be released from the very best years.
