A review of Above All by Matt Attlee I was interested to get this release as I had I heard nothing from the band but quite a bit about them as they had supported a lot of touring punk acts during their Sydney shows. The band are described as sounding like Jawbreaker and Pegboy so I was expecting a melodic sound while what I received had a much harder edge will not falling entirely into the category of hardcore.

The CD is really good brimming with great tunes. The ripper tight drumming really stands out in Days, Holding Out and Hellman which has one of the greatest drum roll build ups I have heard. The vocals are rough fitting in perfectly, though Nautical Mile an emotional number they were softer and harmonious. The lyrics comes across as optimistic suggesting there is still some hope in the world. Great lyrical lines include from Punk Rock City "no punk love, just push and shove" and Not What I'm Thinking "you're so independent no one can hold your hand". Stand out tracks would have to be Days, Holding Out, Hellman and Not What I'm Thinking. A release definitely worth checking out if your into this sort of thing.
