I'm very fortunate to be owned by four lovely, giving dogs. Together, we enjoy doing many different sports or just hanging around the house.

My favourite sport is Obedience. Pride (my Golden Retriever) has his U.D. and is retired now. Whispa (my Pekingese) has her C.D.X. and is ready to trial in U.D., but is in semi-retirement at the moment due to injury. Both Shaali and Anzac are trialling in U.D. at present.

I'd have to say that Shaali's and Anzac's favourite sport is Agility and Jumpers, where they get to run fast, leave me trailing behind, and the enjoy the variety of obstacles.

I'm hoping to start tracking soon with all but Whispa, unfortunately though at the moment shift work doesn't give me much time to enjoy all these fun things as much as we would like.

Why do I do it? If you speak to anyone who's into these sports, they may say that "we're mad" or "it's in our blood" but personally I believe it's a healthy mixture of both, getting a kick out of training your best friends and seeing it pay off when you get your titles. Let me say, nothing feels as good as getting your U.D. (in the "dog world", that is), but then again, I've yet to get an A.O.C. (Australian Obedience Champion), although I'm sure my guys will get there.

So yes, I am mad and it is in my blood, but I'm soon to put myself back to "square one" and go again with another puppy. Ultimately though, it's great fun and I'll have these great friends to grow old together with (anyone with an old dog knows that they're worth it).

Lastly, have fun in whatever sport you choose to do with your best friends, but especially just in everyday life with them.
