FUNERALS

As with many rites of the church, funerals attract some discussion. As Christians we believe that Christ is alive, risen from the tomb after death upon the cross. And so when we gather to mourn the death of another we recall that God in Christ has defeated death and that all who die in faith participate in that eternal victory. All who wish to farewell their beloved in the context of the truth of Jesus, and the sure and certain hope which we have in God's power for new beginnings for all who turn to him, are encouraged to seek the ministry of God's church. The church's response ought never be judgmental but gracious, for that is Christ-like!
