The Huscarls Dark Age Re-enactment Society, has a number of branches (we call them Boroughs)
within Australia.
The benefits of belonging to a local Borough are many, for example, support from all the other branches with
information and infrastructure, larger numbers showing up at events, which helps with the
atmosphere and the enjoyment, but the main thing all groups need these days... the evil of insurance.
With larger memberships and more Boroughs
means we all can have bigger dreams and projects, such as a property with our own Dark Age village for events
and even our own small Viking boat. The other major benefit from belonging to a larger society is the wealth of knowledge that is within this group. The society holds workshops on many subjects to help spread this knowledge among it's membership.
If there is no Borough in your area, you may still join and receive all the support we can
supply. If you wish to start your own Borough we require a minimum of 5 members in the area. We
also require all these members to agree to always work towards a high standard of authenticity with their kit. The
Society has manuals and clothing patterns to help new members get started and with hope not make
the same mistakes we all did when starting out.
