William Eldridge was a builder born in Sussex, England. He lived with Louisa Barnett and they had four children with all the births registered at Hastings, Sussex. William was at Tivoli Road, St Leonards, Hastings on the 1841 census shown age 44 and at the same address in 1851 shown age 52 born Sussex.
Their grand daughter Amelia Eldridge was born at Islington, Middlesex and her parents were recorded as Richard Hastings Eldridge and Amelia Eldridge, formerly Dukes. She married William Arthur Oliver and the couple and their five chidren migrated to Victoria, Australia on the Pericles arriving Oct 1909. Two more children were born at South Yarra, VIC.
