Hopfgarten in Tirol
... Helmut's Pub, an angel, rescue, hangovers, the bells, magnificent party gigs in the snow, edelweiss and Helmut - a legend ...

The Hunter Valley - our back yard. Low blue mountains in the distance. Sparse water, browns and greens. The encroachment of vineyards. Closed coal mines. Returning bellbirds...

70's rock star - Roll Over Beethoven
Now that hairdo is a mullet!

Fair Princess Crew Party band - 1999. Ben's the drummer (the quiet looking one at the front) but he gave the old guy a go and went to the bar (old guy with drumstick at the back. Actually Hira is older). Left to right: Gavin, Hira, Rosie, Pam, Les (behind), Ben, John, Anthony and Antony.

On Star Princess with Bev & Hugh 2003

Sunset over Moorea - From a cabin window on board R3, Papeete, Tahiti, 2001

Brimrod Follies - early showbiz, featuring little Joyce Gardiner (Les' Mum)- Rochdale, Lancashire, 193? ...

Pam's first gig - as leader of Bellbird Primary School Recorder Band, Cessnock Town Hall, 1966

A highlight was performing on the South Steyne Floating Restaurant during the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Pictured with Roland Douglas, UK Gold Medallist - Darling Harbour, Sydney, 2000

South Pacific Lounge, Tss Fair Pincess, 1999
We were resident in this lounge 24 months between Nov 1997 and Nov 2000 (with some breaks of course and a few spots in the "Mistral"). At one period we went 15 months straight. Unbelievable! Cabin fever.

The Orphans - Promo shot by Paul Foley - 1983. In a terrace somewhere off Darby St.
The beginning of "retro" and one of the few times you'll see Pam in a dress. Nice legs!
L to R: Greg Dawson, Les Gully, Jeff Dunn, Jus' Gordon, Pam Gully (nee Barnett). The dog is Dawson's "Jemma".

Les' 2nd (paid) appearance - "Yesterday's Orphans" - Toronto Bowlo, 1965. Note the very early combover and drumsticks held at full length a-la Keith Moon.
For those without color, that's green pants, purple paisley shirt, thin knitted tie (with no knot) and red "wine" coloured velvet jacket. Note also the "aviator" sunglasses well before Easy Rider. The drum kit is a $20 (10 pounds) "Star" kit - white pearl, no floor tom or seat.
That's John Seamer at back on the Farfisa electric organ. The rest of the band's off to the left. That's a photo for another spot.

The Swanee / Orphans package - Oriana, 1986
Back Row L to R: Mark Tinson, Greg Dawson, Rick Mellick, Jeff Dunn, Pam Gully, Phil Screen.
Front Row L to R: Dennis Wilson, John Swan, Les (get a bigger shirt) Gully.

TJ, Jus' & Les - Niederau, Austria - 1989. We actually all managed a day off at the same time. Unheard of! ...So we did the sleigh ride tour up to a Gasthof on the next plateau and of course we all had to sing. This was one moment I managed to wrest the guitar from Gordon's hands and he still looks like he wants it back.

(The late) Smokey - Hard at work in the office

Les gets a kiss from the gorgeous Raiatia Dancers - Uturoa, Raiatia, Polynesie Francais - 2001

Barry Wonderfull, blown up from a distance (as he should be) - Ward 10 with Heroes at a Nobby's Beach Concert, 1979.
Note: Everything's borrowed - Phil Butkus' Strat, Peter De Jong's Amp, Darryl Hoy's PA and Pam's tiger skin lycra tights (couldn't manage to borrow shoes or shirt - oh yes... the hair's mine).
And sorry I'm so blurry. It must be the drugs.
