Online Stores with System Builders

This list is of Australian based computer sellers who offer online 'system builders'. The better builders tend to be at the top.

AusPCMarket - Assemble a system online from a huge range of parts. Choose any combination with no drop-down menus. Site also provides helpful pointers on what typically goes with what for the benefit of novice system builders. (Sydney)

Forte Computers - Order online or simply request a quote. Assemble a custom PC from a wide range of parts. Choose any combination of parts with no drop-down menu restrictions. (Sydney)

EYO Online - Assemble a system online from a drop down menu system. Reasonably good range of choice in each drop down menu.(Sydney)

Navada Computers - Actually based in Western Australia. Reasonably good drop down menu based system builder.

I-tech - Build a computer from three basic profiles. Need to 'login' first but there is no registration as such. Also - you can purchase goods using BPAY! No need for a credit card, transfer money straight from your bank account.

IPS - Modify existing configurations. Not all components can be modified. However the site sells (individually) all the bits you need to build your own system so if you have the time you can simply browse and buy from the individual categories.

MicroArts - Fill in an online form and this site will email you an obligation free quote.

Bluefire! - Configure a PC system from a drop-down menu system. Limited choice of drop-down items.

ComputerMarket - Modify the offered configurations. System modifier is ok but a bit cumbersome interface. However this site does offer a wide rnage of parts and details.

Rationale

Looking to buy a new computer system? Having problem sorting out the good web sites for buying a system online? I know I did.

A lot of computer stores have an online presence. But a lot of the time they are little more than a glorified catalog or static price list. These are the dime a dozen web sites you don't want to waste a second on. Then there are those sites which offer good lists of prices on individual components, but don't let you assemble your own system. These sites are a bit better but aren't real good for those that are looking to build and purchase a complete system.

What one really wants is a site that allows you to build your own custom PC online using some sort of online 'configurator' or 'system builder'. And ideally these should offer a wide range of choice for each component. That is where this site comes in. The sites above are all Australian computer stores which offer some sort of online 'system builder' facility. Of course using these system builders requires some knowledge of what goes with what. But most of web sites I have dealt with will usually check that all the parts go together if you seem like you are genuinely interested.

So, what are you waiting for. Build your dream system today!
