The Tornado air boat hull secret A closer look at the beginning stage of building a Tornado hull. We use a double skin, three section supported series of extrusions made just for Tornado air boats, this draws on aviation double skin technology for strength and lightness. After the hull is fully welded a high density polyurethane foam is pumped into each honeycomb cavity, providing even more rigidity plus buoyancy. All aluminium welds are done to Australian standard AS1665 for aluminium construction A close up look at the hull "planking" at each third section the planks are fully welded on both sides. The first stage of creating the curve to the bow, later it will be getting a shallow, but critical V section. Engine mounts and beginning of safety cage installed All machinery guards are built to conform to Australian Standard AS4024 Cage, prop, engine and rudders, just before painting |
