What do you need?
The regiment strives for authenticity; therefore we have to ensure that uniforms and equipment meet high standards. Unfortunately the cost of Uniform, equipment and muskets can put some people off. Once you have decided to join the 80th you'll naturally want to acquire your RED coat and full kit as soon as possible. To assist the new member, we have organised a Quartermaster store stocking many of the items and accoutrements that you will need. The Quartermaster should always be consulted before purchasing or making items of uniform or personal kit. |
To ensure that everyone's uniform is of a consistent colour, we have purchased a bulk supply of the madder red woollen cloth and yellow facing cloth. By buying in bulk we are also able to pass on the cost savings to every soldier. The Quartermaster will also supply the necessary patterns to those wishing to make their own uniform or put you in touch with our tailor. This will ensure a correct fitting and regulation cut uniform.
A full infantryman's kit consists of numerous items often from a diverse range of suppliers; the Quartermaster can provide you with a list of preferred suppliers of these items. He can also supply accurate plans and instructions for the handicraft orientated soldier to make some of their kit themselves. Orders for the Brown Bess musket, bayonet and swords are consolidated and made through our reliable supplier. Due to the need to import these items it may take several months for orders to be filled.
