Aberdeen Australia is proud to be one of a small number of towns, cities and communities throughout the world that bear the Scottish origin name Aberdeen. There are Aberdeen's located in the UK, USA, Canada, South Africa, Hong Kong and of course Australia.
In the Middle Stone Age an area of coastal land in the north of Scotland along the banks of the Dee river were first occupied however it was not until the Anglo Norman period when the Franklins settled the area did Aberdeen County and Aberdeen City really start.
The name Aberdeen originated from the Gaelic aber "mouth" and deen "of the Dee".
