Group 3 went through a crisis period in 1994. Taree Old Bar folded early in the season, leaving the group with only five teams. Newly formed South Taree took the group back to six teams, but then Taree United folded. Both Port Macquarie and Wauchope were unimpressed, and only continued to play in the group on condition that they could move to Group 2 in 1995, which they did. That left the group with only three first divisions teams, and so the first and second divisions were combined for 1995.
