Newcastle

A team from Newcastle played in the Sydney Premiership in 1908-09. They withdrew to form the basis of the Newcastle Premiership in 1910.

Approaches were made to Newcastle to rejoin the competition from 1970 onwards, but they did not do so until 1988, mainly because of resistance within the Newcastle Rugby League.
